GLASS MAGIC - The Complete Method Guide

With over 5 years and 100’s of successful Workshops, we have produced a simple and easy to follow booklet. Chock full of ideas, tips and well tried suggestions, this method has been written with YOU in mind. PLUS we urge you to call at any time for FREE FRIENDLY advice should you require it.

Glass Magic Instructional Video

Our Instructional Video is the perfect learning tool for those who like to see how it’s done. To make each part of the method even clearer, we will supply you with special written teaching notes which highlight techniques demonstrated at various times during the video. You can thus pause the tutorial at many appropriate points to reinforce what is happening and why. Having taught hundreds of ‘hands on’ Workshops, we believe this video and notes will be great value for those who want to have their own workshop at home, plus you can revise as often as you like.

Learners Project Kit

This kit is designed as a learning experience for anyone. You will need to obtain a stanley knife, roller and a suitable soldering iron. Everything else is supplied.

The step by step instructions will take you through the complete Glass Magic method. This project is an ideal starting point to then go on with all these fabulous panels which are just waiting to be done - quickly and easily by YOU.

Our Instructional Video would make an excellent teaching companion to this kit.

Stain Thinners

A special thinner is necessary for washing out your applicators between using different colours and when finished. You can re-use your cleaning thinners a number of times. Some fresh thinners is also required if the stains thicken up a little or for certain fixing techniques, and is excellent for cleaning your glass.

Stain Applicators

These are special, long lasting glass applicators which are simple to use. A pack of 2 is usually sufficient.

Lead Strip

High Bond Adhesive Lead Strip is supplied in two sizes. 4mm comes in one strip of 9 metres and 6mm comes in one strip of 6 metres,

The lead strips are easily separated per instructions using a snap blade knife. Exclusive to our business, we supply lead strip ‘pre-scored’ or almost cut through.

6mm lead strip is used to highlight lines and is used around the outside of any panel that is being set into a frame.

H.P. or High Profile lead strip creates a slightly chunkier look.

Lead Cutting Blade

A special curved blade which fits a Stanley Knife. This allows you to use a ‘pushing and rocking’ motion to easily cut and trim each piece of lead strip.

Lead Roller

A hard roller used to ‘bed’ the lead onto the glass. This greatly helps adhesion. A MUST!

Flux

A non acid cleaning fluid which allows the solder to join onto the lead strip at each joint. Other acid fluxes and ‘resin cored’ solders are NOT suitable. Only small quantities are required. Applied with a cotton bud.

Solder

A 60/40 solid wire solder. More economical by the roll. Two metres is suitable for a small project.

Soldering Iron

Used to solder every join to prevent stain leaking and to strengthen pattern. Our 40 Watt Iron is ideal for all DIY lead strip projects. Being not too hot or cold ensures this iron can be used easily by anyone with only minimal practice and with using our teaching notes.

H.P. lead strip is more quickly soldered with a 60 watt iron. Safety Stand use is encouraged to cut down risk of burnt fingers or singed tables.

Soldering Iron Safety Stand

Reduces risk of burnt fingers or singed tables.

Black Patina

A chemical that instantly ‘ages’ the lead to a dark grey colour. Uses only small quantity, but creates a beautiful finish.

Glass Stains

The stains are fully intermixable to make a complete range of colours (we include a colour mixing chart). Clear stains is used to change shades as in Red + Clear = Pink.

When estimating your requirements, 60 mls will cover approx an area 300mm X 300mm.

Always use glass containers to store your stains. If in doubt, call us.
